Teenager who has survived grief
Madison lost her father at 14 and is figuring out how to move forward as a young adult.
Madison was an absolute joy to record with. She is wise beyond her years in part because of what she has had to go through. Her father died when she was only 14-years-old. Losing your father is hard no matter what age you are, but even more so at such a young age.
Everyone will lost someone at some point. Everybody dies. I don’t mean for that to be negative. It’s just a fact of life. Everyone will die. So you will lose someone at some point. Many have already lost someone.
My plea to you, when you do lose someone, is to be patient with yourself. There is no timeline on grief. No magic time limit when suddenly you will be okay. But you will be okay. It does take time. Time doesn’t necessarily heal all, but it helps.
Be patient. Give yourself some grace and love. Everyone grieves differently and at their own pace. Don’t try to compare yourself to anyone else. Allow yourself to grieve in your own way and in your own time.
When you’re ready to pick yourself up and keep moving, remember to go slowly. And when something inevitably sets you off, it’s okay. You might slide back a little bit and there is nothing wrong with that. Just pick yourself back up and keep moving forward, even if it’s only half an inch at a time.
I talk all the time about being kind and loving others. You deserve the same. Be kind to yourself.
